Kraken is a major cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2011 by Jesse Powell (with co‑founder Thanh Luu) out of San Francisco; it grew from early Bitcoin trading roots into one of the first U.S. platforms offering fiat‑to‑Bitcoin markets, institutional custody, liquidity and trading services for retail and institutional clients worldwide. Kraken’s leadership has evolved as the company scaled: co‑founder Jesse Powell moved from CEO to Chairman in 2022 when COO Dave Ripley succeeded him, and in 2024 Arjun Sethi was appointed co‑CEO as part of an expanded executive structure.
